WFPF urge all fourm members and families living in the LBWF who have a child with a disability to sign up to the borough Children's Disability Register.
What it the Register and why is it important?
The Children's Disability Register is the register for Children with Disabilities in Waltham Forest. It was previously known as SNIP - the Special Needs Information Partnership. The register is used to plan services for children with disabilities. Under the Children Act 1989, local authorities must keep a register of all children with disabilities in the borough.
Which children are included on the register?
The register includes children and young people between birth and 19 years with:
Physical disabilities
Sight or hearing loss
Learning disabilities
Communication difficulties
Chronic ill health and who require additional help from their parent(s) / carer(s), or other to take part in day-to-day activities.
Does my child have to be registered?
No, the register is completely voluntary but can only work for all of us, if as many people as possible agree to put their children on the register.
What information is required?
General information about your child is collected, such as name, address, date of birth, as well as information about the childcare provider or school they attend, the services they access, and their diagnosis. A copy of the form is available to download below, as well as a link to the form online.
What are the benefits to my child?
As the register is used to help plan services, the more information we have, the better that planning will be. We also email parents with details of services, activities and events that are running in the borough and beyond as soon as we receive the information. For that reason, it is important to provide us with an email address if you have one.
