Background

In June 2010 Waltham Forest Parent Forum met with GLL who run sports centres in Waltham Forest to explore the possibility of setting up a swim session which would be suitable for disabled children and adults and their families as many of our members had suggested that a session such as this would be something that they would love to attend. GLL were happy to support WFPF in arranging this session and was launched in September 2010.

The family Disability Swim is a fun session designed for ALL the family, not just the child with a disability or special need
 
It is a chance for brothers, sisters, grandparents and other extended family members to come togther to splash about
 
The pool is qiueter and less crowded than a regular swimming session
 
It provides an opportunity for parents to chat and for children to meet up with friends from school
 
It's FUN!
